WHAT WE DO
The Friends are a voluntary fund-raising group for St. Luke’s General Hospital
General Hospital
We want to ensure that the people of Carlow-Kilkenny get the best of care.
We want St. Luke’s staff to have the equipment they need to provide that care.
Our aims are:
• The ‘Friends’ raise finance to purchase new medical equipment for St. Luke’s.
• We cooperate with the Department of Health, the HSE, and others, for the good of the Hospital.
• The ‘Friends’ support the staff of St. Luke’s to deliver a great service to the community of Carlow-Kilkenny.
• The ‘Friends’ also aim to improve amenities in St. Luke’s for patients and staff.
CURRENT PROJECT : NEWBORN & INFANT RESUSITAIRE
The newborn and infant Resuscitaire is an essential life-saving piece of equipment used for the stabilisation, monitoring, and management of newborn and fragile infants in the first months of life.
This state of the art system allows us to maintain a child’s optimal temperature, monitor his heart and lungs with integrated sensors and displays, and to provide emergency respiratory support.
The Resuscitaire will be available to the unwell infant arriving to the hospital and to the infant deteriorating in the Paediatric Ward. The critically unwell infant can be supported with the Resuscitaire until recovery or if needed transfer to one of our national tertiary centres.
